Google map new feature: With the cases of covid-19 not slowing down, technology giant Google on Wednesday announced a Google map new feature. The latest feature in the Google Maps will be known as ‘COVID layer’ and according to Google it will show the users important information like number of covid-19 cases in an area which will help the users to take decisions of whether to go to that particular area or not.
With the pandemic showing no signs of being contained, Google will roll out the new feature in its latest update this week on both Android and iOS this week.
The feature is rolling out for iPhones and Android phones this week. That means you might not see it today, but you should in the coming days. Just keep looking for a Google Maps update.
This is how the Covid layer feature will work
Google has said in its blogpost that when the user opens the map on Google Map, then he will get the COVID-19 info feature in the layer button. As soon as we go to this feature, this map will change according to the position of Covid. It will show an average of seven new cases per 100,000 people in the area and show whether cases are increasing or decreasing.
Google will also add color coding feature to it which will help users break the destiny of new cases in one area. Trading map data will show the country level of all 220 countries and regions that support Google Maps. Also, data is available at its state or province, county and city level.
Google will collect data from various sources of Covid-19 cases in a particular area, including Johns Hopkins, the New York Times and Wikipedia. These sources will receive data from public health organizations such as the World Health Organization, government health ministries, state and local health agencies and hospitals.
Corona figures in the country for the past six days are giving relief. During this time, more patients have recovered from the new case. On Wednesday, 86 thousand 703 infected were identified, while 87 thousand 458 patients were cured. Now there are 9.66 lakh patients who are undergoing treatment. On September 17, this figure was the highest at 10.17 lakhs, that is, 51 thousand active cases have been reduced in the last six days. On September 12, 24 thousand active cases were increased.
So far 57 lakh 30 thousand 184 cases have been reported in the country. 46 lakh 71 thousand 850 people have been cured, while 91 thousand 173 have died. On Wednesday, 1123 patients lost their lives. These figures are according to covid19india.org.
